I intended to spend a day in the sun.
Firstly, I planned to cycle to east coast park from my place within an hour. Then, I would wakeboard at the newly-opened man-made wake-boarding arena with synn tian. However, the weather wasn't helping and we had to postpone it to next week. That's really disappointing I must say.
Instead of spending my day at home, wallowing in pain and misery, I went out to catch a 1245pm movie at Plaza Singapura. The movie is a social satire called "Thank you for smoking". It has been given a rating of M18 even though the content isn't exactly shocking. I must have looked underaged to the counter staff as she demanded to see my identification pass.Yet, I'm not surprised because I have been mistaken for a 16-year-old several times.
The satire is about a charismatic lobbyist who worked for the tobacco company. To promote smoking, he attended talk shows and gave compulsive speeches to the American audience. The scene where he faced a panel of congressmen to contest a motion of whether or not to label cigerettes packets with a skull bone must be the most entrancing part of the movie. He didn't debunk the notion that smoking is harmful for health.Yet, he argued that the number one killer in America was obesity-linked heart disease. Hence, products like artery-clogging cheese should be given the label as well. Even though it's quite a warped argument, it left the panel dumbfounded. Ha!
Really hope that the weather could be kinder.I'm missing my sunny days!
