I actually injured myself twice on my mouth during frisbee today. Not sure whether it was because everyone was more agressive today, since it was the trial for city league games. Firstly, I fell flat on the ground after being hit on the side. My poor upper lip started bleeding and I bruised my cheekbone. And after i got back in the game, the frisbee hit my lips again when i was trying to save it. But i managed to score. So that was a consolation. Got to wear my retainers tomorrow during the game. Hopefully that would protect my precious front teeth which are already handicapped.(some of you would know what i mean)
bowling was fun, because of the great company, not because of the game. I never like bowling anyway. so here's a short photo blog. I'm not inspired to write today. i love sea stars!
I ran out of titles so here goes. Got so much done today and I'm terribly proub of myself.*YaY* I actually managed to write out notes for biology of animals after the tedious & exhausting physics lab that ended at 830pm. Due to my folly---once again---i went to the wrong lecture hall in the afternoon and ended up missing bio lecture. And i thought it was cancelled! hahahah! I spotted this guy from my lab and people were streaming out. good gracous! Somehow i always see funny/foolish/weird/crazy things happening whenever things are supposed to be dull. For instance, at the end of the video demonstration in today's physics lab, the demonstrator in the video(yes he had big permed hair!Must be filmed in the 70s!) actually did a thumbs up! A thumbs up that looked like those you see in retro commercials! hhahahahhahahahhahaha...I almost burst out laughing. How cheesy is that! And during experiment, i turned the tap on too much and sprayed water all over! Was rather apologetic since i got my partner and her book wet but it was funny in retrospect.hehehe.
Added another activity to my routine---cycling. Have been cycling out so often these few days. Cycled to rebel sports on monday to get my much needed track pants at a low price of $19.90. Opportunely i can fit a kids size 12(largest is 14). Or else I would have to spend at least 40 dollars to get a decent pair which would be far too long as well. Physics test on monday was relatively easy as compared to what i have been through *grins* but i'm kinda worried about making stupid calculation errors. I wasn't fully awake at 7pm on monday. I would much prefer them to carry out tests in the day since i'm not a night owl.
We are doing examination combinations for dance now and i must say they aren't exactly exciting. I'm not taking part in the exam because it clashes with my school exams and that isn't good. BUT we'll be preparing for performance after this term! Hope I get to perform! YAY!
Have a throbbing headache now... Cycled to the city after i got out of bed but NO SUPERMARKETS are going to be open till 1pm! ARGH! I've no choice but to get only milk and 2 chocolate bars from the petrol kiosk at raised prices. This is New zealand. Public holidays are not just rest days for office workers and students. Everybody's involve. Got to have my brunch and panadol.byeee!
Maybe I held really high hopes before visiting wellington. To a city dweller like me, I guess only Auckland can be define as a true blue city. However, wellington has quite a few museums as well as a dance school that does modern dance.(yay!) Black Grace--a renowned contemporary dance group--- had a performance during my visit but I missed it.The backpacker's hotel for the first 2 nights was excellent and it totally dismissed the notion that backpacker's hotels are dirty and dingy. It has a real fireplace at the lobby and an old-fashioned lift that requires you to operate the gate manually which i didn't dare to try. But the second backpacker's hotel was absolutely disappointing and it had no heating system the night we were staying there. I froze into a ball of ice during the night and in addition to that, drunken people were making a din at the pub downstairs. Hence, I took a long hot water shower in the disgusting tiled- bathroom at 330am and went down to the kitchen to warm my muffin for early breakfast. The best thing was that BBC News was on and i had the opportunity to catch snippets of world news. Now I know Nigeria is chaotic due to election and Singapore is going to be rainy these few days. Hooray! I shall digress and tell you about the fridge as well. It was a walk-in one and i was so afraid that i would be locked in. Then I headed out for a short walk in the city at 640am and eventually bought groceries from the only shop that was opened---New world supermarket. Guess visiting supermarkets is one of the main activities of NewZealanders. There are FOUR supermarkets in tiny palmerston north!
Now I'm glad to be back in my hall. I was looking forward to it with such intense fervour when I was freezing in the night. Warm clean cosy hall.
And not forgetting the highlight of the trip: I stepped into a hole leading to the drain on my first night. Luckily my left ankle bones are strong enough to withstand the stress from the fall. Must be the milk.
I woke up pretty early today----at 7am--- and decided to make myself a good breakfast before heading to wellington. I should have taken a picture of my breakfast to show you people that my cooking is only suitable for self-consumption. But it tasted fine. So that's alright for me. I think i reek of "cooking smell" now. That's my ultimate pet peeve and the reason why i hate cooking. Got to spray on more perfume. Guess I shall stick to microwave for now.
It was drizzling and wind was blowing but nothing deterred us from our first ever manawatu gorge trekking. Felicia, kenta, Tomoko and me went uphil and downhill, through thick lush foilage and across cold running streams----and not forgetting those endless steps that had me all excited!hahahahaha. So here are a couple of photos i managed to take while desperately trying to outrun/outwalk the ever irritating Felicia.( i know you will lecture me the next time you see me!!!!I'll whack you on your head first!)
Heading to wellington tomorrow! yippe yipee yipee!!!! Bye little sleepy town and hello city!
Never realised it's this pretty...like something out of a postcard.
I finished my first ever sewing project that required me to sew a zipper! Even though I'm not exactly sure when a hole might appear or when a button might fall off. I'm completely satisfied. So here's my hot water bottle cover!!!!!!! Oh and the card and present is for my grandmama's birthday. I shall stick to drawing and painting unless i wish to challenge myself with the needle again. Sewing isn't exactly for me eh.
Went cycling after I managed to crawl out of bed. Had too many late nights these few days. When was I an owl anyway? I was never nocturnal but I'm slowly turning into one. Eck!!! Have to get myself more exhausted during the day so i could sleep at night. Cycled to the petrol station in town and got a cappucchino. I love my bike!
Cycled around campus in the morning and finally found the intercity bus stop. It's just an inconspicuous sign on a stand along the main road. I wouldn't have known it's there if not for the directions from Tomoko and Abraham. After which , I cycled to Fiji's hall to arrange the venue and time to meet on thursday morning, lest we miss the bus. The cycle up was tedious because i didn't take the main road and went uphill on a gravel and dirt path instead. It's all simply due to my folly. Had a chat with Ahzar and Kohei since i was there and something Ahzar said spurred me to be stronger and more determined. He has this female stereotype which is just so untrue and annoying. It might be true for a few individuals but NOT me! He assumed that females couldn't survive jungle trainings and hence should have a compulsory housework national service. It was said partly in jest but that hit me hard. I may look petite but i'm definitely not weak, both mentally and physically. I don't need to depend on anyone to survive, especially in this world where nothing is certain.I'm not a hardcore feminist but i believe in equality. Each has her/his own life to live.
My room is bathed in pink, all thanks to my bright pink blanket---courtesy of my sis.
And I don't even like pink.
Or maybe just a little.
I'm dressed in hues of pink today,
with a pair of pink fluffy piggy socks as the finishing touch.
This is purely coincidental i say,
pink isn't my colour.
I wrapped the present for grandmama in pink paper
My carpet looks pink
My wooden desk looks pink
I live in a pink building
Today is a pink day
Thankfully the apple tart that i had wasn't pink
P.S. The heater in my room is finally working!
i'm so blessed, lucky...and all their synonyms. if not for the tire puncture, i would have been putting myself at great risk. The kind "grangfatherly" repairman told me the handlebar was in a mess and i could never put that bike on the road. He repaired everything for me at no cost at all. I'm really grateful to him for doing so. Now i understand that everything happens for a reason. What appeared as something that's downright unlucky might be a blessing in disguise. I should lament less and count my blessings. The trip back from the city was exhausting---since i took the wrong road--- but enjoyable. This is my 2nd bike. The first one i had was a pink bmx on my 4/5th birthday. Even though she's blue(i don't reallly like blue) and unattractive, she does not cost much and is of great practicality. I'll get a nicer bike when i'm older and richer.
I seriously feel like hitting my head real hard. What started out as a day for me to enjoy my new bike ended up a disaster.sort of. Felicia and me carried the bike back to her place after much effort and stares from passer-bys. Quite a few offered their help, a few drivers even stopped their cars to offer their aids. You just have to imagine 2 midgets lugging a huge box to know how pitiiful we appeared to be. But we managed to carry the box back ourselves. That's a mean feat you know. The whole afternoon was spent fixing the bike and i was a real trouble-maker to everyone. Fabian had to go around borrowing tools while Zubair helped to adjust the brakes. When i thought all was settled and i was gleefully cycling to BP to get the tyres pumped, i burst a tyre. yep i burst the tyre! How foolish could i get... Seeked help from Zubair again since he has a jeep instead of the 2 seater race car that Fabian had and my bike could fit in. I got driven home instead. What a day and i'm glad all was over.hopefully.
A BIG thank you to Felicia, Fabian and Zubair. Sorry for the trouble! =^-_-^=
Everyone---or at least most of my hallmates---left for home today. Number of people remainig: Less than 10. Ann and me helped Aymie vacuumed her garbage-strewn room since she didn't have time to do so. I ended up vacuuming the hallway too. After my brunch of the leftover food that i have in my fridge---sausage and toast---, I walked with Ann to her Nana' s place since there wasn't any bus service on good friday. We met a warm poofy little schnauzer along the way and she was almost glued to my pants when i stroked her. Then i headed back to hall while she visited her Nana. I was really glad to be greeted by flourishing greenery instead of closed signs on shop doors. I was glad for once to be in palmerston north instead of a bustling city. The day was too perfect to coop myself indoors. Hence I brought my lap top to the lawn and spent a lazy afternnon on the computer while lying on the lawn. That's real bliss!
Today is the last day of school and everyone went berserk. MuBar(a bar in school) was having XXX stripper night and Zen , Richard and Cat from my hall went in their most "slutty" costume ever. Zen was in a satin bathrobe, Richard in a loud print shirt with a luminous pink cross on his scrawny chest and Cat had pink hair and mini skirt. They came back drunk, wasted and louder than usual---Richard and Cat are usually noisy. Richard took my half-drunk cup of soup and spitted peaches that he took from Meaghan into it. Next, Zen came and ran around in his brief! That's going to give me nightmares.
I could imagine the bus i took today to the dance school as a swift-running cat with glowing eyes, just like the cat bus in TOTORO. I could imagine myself being in Hogwarts, lectured by those odd-looking professors with their idiosyncrasies. I could imagine nutella sprouting right out from the ground.(hehe) That's the beauty of surrealism. I always think modern dance is a form of surrealism. Though I'm learning Jazz now, modern is still my favourite.Jazz allows me to build up on my foundation dance skills, which is kinda good too. I found out that there's an exhibition on surrealism in London recently!!!(ooohhhhh...) And related products are being sold. I would really love to have the cloud lamp in my room!!! And the gold tooth stool might be of interest to qi and synn tian.
Got to sleep now.Long busy day tomorrow...
Saturday was my outing day since i spent the entire friday studying instead of enjoying my favourite day. Took a bus in the morning to wetpets with Ann, Felicia and Steph. The bus driver was really nice and sent us all the way in front of the petshop even though there isn't any bus stop within that area. Didn't manage to get a new tank because they have to check with the supplier since this is my 2nd tank that cracked for no reason.Maybe i'm not destined to have a fish. Moreover, the tank i wanted was out of stock.Well, I'll just have to leave sharkie with Anna till I get a new tank during easter break. Her tank's with me now as she entrusted with the sacred task of babysitting her fish while she went back home for the weekend. Sharkie's enjoying her fish's company anyway. Got momo a packet of treats and oil supplement for his dry skin which steph is bringing back for me on wednesday. Spent a total of $25!!!!!! Momo you are expensive.
Had luncheon outside yesterday(YAY!!!) and I had pad thai and an ice coffee!!! The restaurant is pretty good and affordable and it's authentic thai food!! The waitresses are Thais i reckon. Frisbee session in the evening and I'm contemplating whether to join the league.
I won't be spending the whole of 2 weeks of easter break in palmy after all!!! Leaving for wellington on the 19th and returning on the 22nd, just in time for school reopening. That means i 've to work harder before the trip since I'll be having physics and chemistry exams when school starts. I'll be staying in a backpacker's hotel(hotel because it's a higher class one with hotel rooms as well) on thursday and a backpacker's hostel twin room with ensuite bathroom on friday and saturday. Only Fiji and me would be there on thursday and hence a backpacker's bunk is more economical. Chose the hotel because I wouldnt want to risk being in a dingy place with dirty shared bathroom for the sake of saving 3 dollars. We'll be getting a room at a cheaper place for the next 2 days(cost the same as a bunk in the hotel) since 3 of us will be sharing the cost.(Hazel's arriving on friday from Auckland)
Meanwhile, I'll have to curb the excitement and study hard...though it's hard to...self-control Angeline!
Below are the photos for yesterday. There was a camp-out in the common room for 29 hours which i didn't join. Look at my friends. Do you think they were enjoying it? At least I helped to blow up the air matress to ease their dismay.hahah...
