Dinner was good. We had ma bo tofu, chicken nibbles and our unique version of "Bah Kut Teh"---daikon + chicken! I didn't do any cooking at all, just washing.hehe. Tonight was spent reminiscing. AWWW...There were good times, not that good times, regrets and hilarious moments. But in retrospect, everything was good. And we do miss "cookie man".
I ended up getting more poo raining over my head today. I wouldn't get them if i was taller, that is regular adult's height. I came out the dirtiest among all the milkers and Javier helped me hosed and scrubbed my raincoat to get rid of the poo. Opportunely Yang doesn't need the raincoat back since he got it for free.
Tomo came back today and I made dinner for us all. Tuna Burritos! And that's all for today. All of us got a little tipsy, especially Tomotoro. I am still wide awake.
I got a waterproof jacket form Kathmandu today before the sales end. I really feel like a farmer now. No dressing up nothing. Back to farm soon!
First day at no. 1 dairy and it was all good despite having poo flying over my head.(luckily i'm short) Before milking, Hamish passed me an oversized apron and i was told to wear gloves. SO i assumed everything would be relatively sterile. It took me a while to get the hang of putting on the suction cups over the teats. Just when i was finally getting the hang of it, a waterfall of poo shot out from one of the cow. I dodged and managed to get away. Hamish reckoned i was quite alright with a motor bike since i wasn't too fast.He was observing me as a pillion rider and i was pretty nervous. There were only 3 of us at the farm--- including a farm worker from Argentina. He's really cool and he taught me a spanish word today. "Baggar"=cow. I'm trying very hard to be strong and useful but even so, i'm quite enjoying dairy work. Hopefully the weather is good enough for me to leave the house early tomorrow. Milking starts at 630am.Today was thundering so i got there at 8am. I don't want to risk my life driving in the pouring rain.
Had dinner with Sam at burger fuel after getting rid of all the poo. I realised i had splatters all over my face and i'm not exaggerating at all. My sleeves got poo on it. Smart of me to get a vest instead of a long sleeve yesterday. Or else i might have to wash it everyday.
p.s. i was kicked by a cow today while i was trying to attach the suction cups. Luckily it was only my arm. It kept me on alert after that.
OUr cows escaped today and Kerry and me chased them back. They went into someone's backyard and made lots of muddy holes. Poor Kerry has to fix the lawn soon. hahaha.
Weather was dismal as usual and i thought i was going to fall off the ATV at one point. And the vets visited today to give vaccines. ONe vet was particularly unusual. Maybe he was trying to be friendly. He said "konnichiwa" to me when he came in. I couldn;t understand him at first. Then it clicked when he said he knew i'm singaporean. Next, while we were herding the cows, he told me he was a giant tree. haha i was trying not to laugh.
I left slightly earlier and headed to kathmandu to get a fleece vest.I thought i should invest in a reasonable farmwear. I have been washing my "going out" sweaters quite frequently because i got poo on the sleeves. Yep a vest is what i need.
Somehow i was so restless today. Not only did i do the electric fencing and ATV driving, I attended a course on lameness with the farmers. I met my lecturer when i was there and learnt lots---not only about cows but people too. Then we did more work before i drove to the vet tower and back. I decided to get a hair trim at Tomo's usual hair salon and got out again after a shower to get petrol, a slice of cake for myself and 'thank you' biscuits for Kerry. I finally got my cake and am very satisfied.*grin grin* I wondered how i survived farm work today. It was hailing and raining at the same time. But i enjoyed it nonetheless. Yang was really nice to offer me dinner today. Since i already got my cake, I shall have the curry tomorrow :)
Here's a really unflattering picture of me today. I took it before i left for the farm again. I chose to be warm instead of looking pretty. I had on 3 layers of clothing(one's a fleece sweater) underneath that overall. Not forgetting a scarf and beanie too. Moreover, I put on big baggy raincoat and water-proof pants over all these. THe pants was bright yellow. I must be so noticeable. It was around 9 degree celcius and was raining constantly. I drove back to the vet tower to dump all the yikey gears in my locker and was glad that i got back home. i fenced and re-fenced the electric fences all because of a miscalculation and got multiple electric shocks. I felt terribly independent today.
The farm manager is friendly and knowledgeable and i can see that he has been farming for a while---really weathered looking.
Back for a short lunch before heading back to campus again. I wonder how would i be able to survive without Fel's car.It took me quite a while to find the farm this morning and it was raining.I approached the pet food research unit and they lady told me to run across a huge muddy field and jump across a couple of fences. She must be kidding. But then she asked me if i drove and she directed me to the farm by taking the tarred road instead. PHEW!I waited for mr farm manager for a while because i was late and he was already running a couple of errands. He made me drive a four-wheeler bike and i didn't know how to change the gears that well. I asked if he was frightened and he replied a little. That's a relief! He told me i should learn while on the job. Funny that he trusted me so much with driving. First time in my life i think.
OH YEA I GOT THE PARCEL MAMA~! THANKS~~~~~ Shall look at it properly later. Learnt lots this morning. Back to farm soon!
During frisbee today, my heart was beating so fast that i feared it might just stop. hehhe i'm exaggerating but i was really using all my energy. There weren't many female players today, just Tomo and me to be precise. So both of us played for 3 teams. Can you imagine that?! We were so qool! I just kept on thinking that i was piccolo with limitless energy. BWHAHAHAH!
Somehow you'll always remember the person who taught you stuff, no matter how unimportant that "stuff" was. I still remember the person who taught me how to cycle, swim, fry an omelette, do leap frogs, fold origami and the list goes on.And they are all different people. (this is a digression isn't it? hehe)
THANK YOU!
And something interesting happened today. Yoshi thought Tomo and me were sisters! GOSH! It would be nice to have an elder sister though.
Had thai lunch with fel and sent her off today. She should be safely back home now. Hopefully.
Went to grab some stuff before heading home after that. Now i've got clothes hook but somehow i can't close the wardrobe door. By the way wynne, I got you a pink towel! BWAHAHA! And fel's friend might be coming in december too so you guys could entertain yourselves while i slog at the sheep+beef farm.
Yang and Tomo came back from their hike safe and sound. We had okonomiyaki and purin! The purin was made by moi! hehehe come to think of it, i couldn't even make a decent omelette last year. Mom didn't i tell you i could cook if i wanted to? :p
p.s thank you ser for your mail!
here's a grinning monster for you! I'll be working at an organic dairy farm on monday. The farm manger has been really helpful. Truthfully, I'm a little worried because i have never worked on a farm before. But i'm sure everything will be great!
Today is my cleaning day. I biked to campus to settle whatever has to be done and started on my 'cleaning day 1'. Got to send Fel fel to the airport tomorrow. I will miss her too. I got this top yesterday. wheee!
Today was pretty amazing. I took a real train for the first time and there was a train conductor, just like what i read in my Enid Blyton. I thought there were 2 stations for the train, one for a single direction since there's only a track. So i walked to the opposite side but there were none. I got a free train ride because i didn't have any cash with me. Thank you mister conductor!
I shopped around, spent time browsing books and magazines at Borders---yay got to read magazines for free!---and had a good lunch at this random cafe with nice friendly staff. Spent a little more money today than usual. Felt kinda guilty for that so i ended up calculating my spending for a semester. It is so much lower than last year and i'm proud of myself.hehe. I finally got a burner to make my room smell nicer. I'm enjoying it now!
Today was quite an adventure. I just wandered around. Tomo met me in town on her way back home from another school she visited.
P.S. i tried to take a shot before we left but it ended up cutting off my head. And wynne, i poached that egg using a stove. Microwave would explode the egg like what i did at home last year. trust me.
Yang made dinner today! YUM! Got to go to bed now! Tomo is leaving at 645am tomorrow!
Jess drove Meaghan and me home today after our last paper. Meaghan was extremely chirpy since she's going back to Raglan on Saturday. I felt kinda lost for some reason. I'm actually in need of sleep but i didn't feel like. I thought of heading to town to get something yummy to have for lunch but i couldn't think of anything good. And it was so cold and windy. Not a nice walk at all. SO i ended up vacuuming my room, doing the dishes for everyone and changing my bedsheets. I was physically and mentally too drained to do anymore cleaning after that. Things were stuffed under the bed and in the wardrobe since i couldn't care less during exam period. I shall do those another time. ended up watching a movie that i watched on my flight to Tokyo last year. Yasu left this morning and i already miss her. Now it's just Tomo and yang and me. Azusa is moving in next month. everyone's going home. I feel like a hermit. Tomo is heading to Wellington for her study tomorrow and i'm coming with her. I shall be taking a train to the city centre. I have never taken a train here before. It'll be my tiny adventure. I might catch a movie while Tomo is doing her stuff. Or i might just get some yummy food. I still prefer city life.
You know what?! I went to bed at around 12am and got up at 4am today because i still have stuff to revise before my exam today. I've to say it's all due to my sluggishness during the day. I could have worked faster. One more day to go! WOHOO! Taking a break now. A nap could be beneficial but i would rather do something else than sleep. Just had my cold salmon soba. I'm finally getting sick of bread. The udon was my dinner on sunday. SOmehow i cooked more than usual during exam period.i think it's because i ran out of instant food and they are expensive too.
p.s i spoke to my landlord yesterday and he told me to go ahead and apply for the greyhound fostering programme!SOmething to look forward to after exams!
hello strangers
it's weird when people whom you wanted to hear from some time back actually approached you when you least expected them to do so.
It happened twice this month and june came only not long ago.
hmmm i'm a little worried.
Maybe i'm the weirdo.
Anatomy is finally over!
I'm too excited to sleep and study!
VAD!
I was so bad. I drifted away from serious study again. OKie got to go to campus now. Gymming after my exam! I sure need it afterward. Anatomy always gives me the weird feeling in my head. I thought this picture was cool.
I think i am either hyperactive or have a terribly low attention span. or maybe both of them. I got up early today, intending to do lots of anatomy revision but ended up vexed and not completing much. So i decided to join the gym again and biked to campus to do some studies before heading to the gym. It's amazing how much i managed to complete within 2 hours as compared to spending my day at home. Gym was good. I just kept on running for approximately 30 minutes.
I cooked Singapore Chicken Curry for 3 of them today and they loved it! I must say i'm quite satisfied with it. It tasted just right!!!! And that was my brunch before i had my exam today. And don't worry i sure didn't eat the entire wheel of brie.
Hello! Here are a few pictures to convince people who are worried that i am not that sick now.We had dinner at "Tasty" for Sam's birthday since she really wanted to try duck and to get everyone else to try it too. even though the food there weren't that great---regular westernised chinese food(buffet style)--- i had quite a good meal. I was finally out of the house and i had real meat which i haven't had for ages. I never liked meat but somehow i missed it. And the company was great since i really missed having people around me for the entire week. hehehe. I'll get more photos from Sam after the exams.
Today's weather was sunny and i managed to bike to Meaghan's place to go through exam questions for tomorrow's paper. Sarah, Meaghan and me had much fun doing exam questions. Oxymoronic isn't it? hehehe. Just came back form frisbee not long ago. I still can't breathe very well due to the cold and i didn't really play much but i felt good exercising a little. I'm thinking of getting my gym membership activated again. I could do some exercise when i'm bored and that might be good for me. OKie that's all from me! Good luck for my exams!!!!!!!
HOORAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! WHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Mom and dad specially sent me a pair of sneakers!!! All because i complained so much last week or is it the week before. I'm so bad. YIPEEEEEE What a surprise!!!!!! I shall wear it on monday. Yesh i shall.
I have been officially sick since tuesday. I caught the evil cold. Felt slightly better after frisbee on tuesday and i thought it was going to leave me for good.( Jacob was there to train us---which was rare---so i had to attend)But i still can't stop sneezing on wednesday. And i had a relapse of gastric pain in the middle of the night even though i had been eating regularly. Maybe too much wholegrain stuff. I always have problems with them. SO i made myself that healthy looking spinach, ham and cheese ciabatta that you see above for brunch yesterday. I walked to the deli to get a salmon quiche which can last for 4 meals and store it in the freezer so i can have quite a healthy lunch/dinner whenever i need to. And again this morning, I walked to the bakery to get a raisin cinnamon bun for breakfast. The sensible part of me knows that i shouldn't venture out so much in the cold. I could easily stay in my room, warm and cosy. But i just had to get out. Not for the food per se(that's just an excuse i guess) . I could have just got a whole lot of food when i walked to the super on monday. Instead, i only got detergent. Maybe i just love to walk.
I woke up at an unholy hour this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I was literally staring into space. It occured to me that i was wasting time so i started reading "The CInderella Moment". It's one of those silly chick flick with confusing paragraphs at times but i couldn't complain since i only spent the same amount of money as i would spend to get a fashion magazine. I got up again at 740am with my lights still on. Tomo was fumbling in the kitchen.
Back to revision now. I have a slight suspicion that i had the urge to update my blog despite having so much to revise for because i didn't really have anyone to talk to these past few days. (hehe sounds sad doesn't it?) Lucky that i'm going to work at the dairy farm during the 3 weeks break. Or else i should really start getting worried about keeping my sanity.
p.s.my room is currently in a state of 'controlled messiness'. That was how my desk at home used to be like. My tiny but sunny room suits me well. I can't imagine Tomo, Yang or Yasu in this room.
Now that they have received the card, i shall showcase it here! Currently loading my body with lots of vitamin c and fluid. I feel slightly sick today and that's totally awful.
Today is mademoiselle Yasuyo's birthday. She's going home soon. But first to Fiji for a night. I'm envious. And i shall post our 'flatmate wanted' poster here too just in case. We are still on the search for a suitable candidate.
p.s.i discovered yesterday that Tomo didn't get a CAKE FOR HER BIRTHDAY IN FEB!!!!!!! I was horrified, shell-shocked, flabbergasted and hyperventilating. I reprimanded Yang for doing nothing. I always think that it's sad to spend birthdays away from home(not the physical place but the company that you have). Worse if the cake is missing too.
