I actually bothered making lunch with my leftover rice from yesterday. I have to save some money for going to Wellington this weekend.
Condensed milk made my day! Opened a can today( they are costly here and made in Singapore?!) and my coffee was overly sweet but heavenly. Hmmm...
Yesh i got my brand new gumboots today!!! It was left at our back door since no one was around to collect it. I shall have to give the postman a pat on his/her back! Good thinking!
Alas, my feet and socks would be dry after my farm practicals ! I have been wanting to get a new pair ever since my previous one have been letting water in. Luckily i could make do with my hiking boots while i was working at the sheep and beef farm last year. Or else my toes might have necrotised now :p SO after having a few weeks of wet feet from wearing my useless gumboots and after consulting a few older vet students, I have decided to invest in proper waterproof footwear. The ones that they sold at farm shops are the typical black ones ( proudly-NZ owned company but made-in-china?!) and they cost about 80 dollars. I'm not saying anything about China made products here ( no offense Yang) but i believe that products should continue to be manufactured at their countries of origin. For instance, I would like to buy "made-in-Japan" Sony products and "made-in-Singapore" Yeo's products. And i do remember spending quite a lot on this quality calligraphy brush from China as well. Sorry for the digression so back to my gumboots. I have always wanted hunter gumboots and opportunely i found an online store that sell them in NZ. However, they are pretty much a luxury because of their price and I was just too stubborn to get the ugly black ones just yet. I randomly emailed the company selling them and they told me that i could get a pair at 100 dollars inclusive of shipping if i choose certain colours they wish to clear. And once again, luck was on my side again and they have my desired size and colour on special! WHheeee so i got them! bye bye wet feet! They are nice enough to wear on rainy days too!
Today is yikey monday so i made myself bright yellow pumpkin with rice. The card is for Keiko-San( my japanese teacher). So much tests are coming up. And they are making me subconsciously grumpy .
I had a sudden urge to have something warm and healthy. So i made myself miso soup at 9am, Heading to Sam's place for our little study session. I bought frozen mini red bean buns from the asian store yesterday! Saving the rest for later. Too precious to eat 8 of them all at once.
It's the weekend once again! Spent my friday hanging out with a couple of friends after watching a post mortem presentation. The fifth years were really impressive and i couldn't believe i would be reaching that standard in 2 years time. I made that card for Wendy's birthday last weekend. I think i couldn't write even though i have lots to say. I'll be walking to town to grab some stuff before starting my revisions once again.I have been cooking almost everyday for my meals as well just to save some money by not buying instant grub. Geez i don't sound coherent at all. By the way, I have to thank Yang for his very useful car which has such a good security system that gave me a little problem yesterday. haha!
I had dinner at Carol's for the first time. I shall award her a michelin star. She cooked really well---korean pancake, spicy chicken, stir-fry cabbage, gyoza, korokke and matcha cupcakes! I had 3 cupcakes( the picture is posted here)! Geez! Not knowing what to bring, I brought hiyashii Chuka which i took the whole afternoon to make( including time spent buying ingredients). I think I'm just not meant to be a cook or a housewife. And if not for Yang's car, I might take even longer. I worry too much about cleaning up as well and that stresses me. haha.
I had a day of outdoor frisbee at wellington! And i'm burnt once again. Just like hot cross buns. Got up at 5am today and made raisin and coconut scones to bring along for the trip. We rewarded ourselves with a good dinner at a taiwanese cafe after that. I had a great sunday! Hope yours was good too!
p.s Wynne you could steal a virtual scone if you like one.BWAHAHAH!
Winter is here! Where's autumn?! It was 4 degree celsius in the morning. And the highest temperature today is 19 degree celsius! So out came my heater and hot water bottle. Unfortunately, I caught a cold. Going for my X ray and blood test after class and i hope it doesn't rain.
Yesterday was a long but lucky day. I missed frisbee once again because I was sick or was i just too lazy? It was at 830pm you see. I shall tell you why i was lucky. When i got off the bus on my way home, it started raining really heavily. SO i ran into the petrol station to wait for the rain to die down. But ANNA was just there! SO i asked her for a ride home! WHeeeee! Japanese class was enjoyable as usual as well. And i still don't feel that sick even though my nose is running most of the time( fingers crossed). So I'm lucky! Had my second meditation class yesterday and we were told to think of our blessings. I believe that happiness is optimism. It all depends on how grateful you are for what you already have isn't it? Have a happie ippie day!
I think i'm down with an allergy. Or it might just be the common cold. My nose was running and my throat and eyes felt funny. I was simply unable to do any work yesterday evening. SO i went to bed at 8pm! ANd i'm up at 4am, trying to do some readings before class . I wonder if that's a weird behavior. But somehow i love getting up earlier than everyone else.
Isn't this great?! Went out for breakfast/lunch with Chethi, Ann, Sam, Issac and Hang today. And this is my brunch! YIPEEEEEEEEE! At that moment, I felt like a kid who just had ice cream for dinner.
Today was a smiley day. I was told by my lecturer that we should only study 8 hours a day. The other 8 hours should be spent sleeping and the remaining for play! Whee if that was true, i wouldn't have to study once i get home from classes. But I guess what he meant was that we should do more fun stuff to encourage ourselves to work harder. I knew that long ago but it's hard to find something to look forward to everyday. But i shall try! I usually watch dramas before bedtime and that is my reward. I had japanese class today and that's something i look forward to every week!Thursday is a day where i get to finish class earlier than usual. So i made swiss roll for the 1st time! *beams* It was dedicated to Ms Tomo who's working hard at the moment. And i made yaki soba for dinner, just because it's expiring soon. Wahhaha!
My japanese class was postponed because the other student couldn't make it today. Sigh... To think that I was so looking forward to it and even rushed back to get ready for class.
I made dinner today. It consisted of wakame, cabbage, ham, mung bean noodles and fish in a miso base. Somehow i'm more into cooking this year. That's a good sign i guess since i could save some money to pay for that exorbitant health check i have to do soon--- $380 in all! Geez that's alot of money...
